Sand Point Arts and Cultural  Exchange

Sand Point Arts and Cultural Exchange (SPACE) connects and enriches our community through art, music, and culture.

The Magnuson Park Gallery is a production of Sand Point Arts and Cultural Exchange. SPACE was founded as an arts non-profit in Magnuson Park in 1994. The initial focus was on preserving some of the historic buildings in the park for arts and cultural uses (including Buildings 30 and 138). Magnuson Park is the second largest city park in Seattle (350 acres) and was a former U.S. Navy support base. Aside from the gallery SPACE also operates a low power FM radio station in the Park – SPACE 101.1 FM and works to promote arts and music in the park.

Open Studios

Twice a year, you can visit Building 30 West for Open Studios. Visitors can step inside working artists studios, meet the artists, and gain insight into their processes, inspirations, and techniques across various mediums and styles. This event invites art lovers and the curious alike to engage directly with the vibrant local art scene and discover the creativity thriving within the community.

Plein Air Exhibitions

For the last several years, Magnuson Park Gallery has partnered with Plein Air Washington Artists (PAWA) to jury and present an annual Plein Air Views of Washington Gallery Exhibition.

One of our most popular exhibitions!

Paint Out Day

For the last three years Magnuson Park Gallery has hosted a Plein Air Paint-Out and Wet Works Display — a celebration of creativity in real time!

SPACE 101.1 FM

SPACE 101.1 is a low power FM station broadcasting from Magnuson Park in Northeast Seattle and streaming worldwide from space101fm.org. SPACE 101.1 is a people-powered station with a passion for good music and great radio that extends beyond our home base.

Programs

What sets SPACE 101.1 FM apart is our diverse programming. As a non-commercial community radio station, we offer about 30 locally produced programs covering a wide range of genres. When not airing fantastic locally produced programs, we present the SPACE MIX—a tailored blend of the best new music, vintage alternative rock, classic R&B, local music, and unexpected delights.

Magnuson Park Live!

The Magnuson Park Live! The series hosts Pacific Northwest musicians who perform live in an intimate environment. The studio audience has a chance to see the best of the local music scene in a relaxed environment. These evenings are audio and video recorded and these recordings are shared online and on the air.
